11th November - Naas (AW)

11th November – Naas

Going; Yielding to Soft (Times suggest Soft)

The Railway Man reverted to hurdles with great success in the opener. He was somewhat fortunate as favourite Arran Concerto threw away his chance with an awful leap that gave the initiative away. The winner is better known as a chaser and this was a pipe opener for a tilt at the John Durkan. This was a good performance really and although fences are a different prospect, it is good to see the winner in fine form. Arran Concerto will probably be little value next time out.

Robert Tyner’s runners are going well at the moment and Young Desperado produced a bit of an upset in the beginners chase after a very long lay off. The performance was good however and I’d expect a fair number of winners to come from the race.

Catch Me built on his debut success to cement himself as one of the most exciting novices in Ireland this season. The performance was sound and he had a little more on his plate here, which he handled with relative ease. Distance is the thing with the winner and he is certain to appreciate further, whilst possessing the apparent speed that allows him to handle shorter trips for the time being. He is a horse going places.

A sound little performance from an improving chaser Well Tutored landed the handicap chase. He doesn’t look too badly treated in the handicap and I’d imagine further success is very possible. Allez Petit Luis keeps running with credit and it’s proving difficult to see a win coming at the slightly extended trips he is currently running over. A return towards two miles proper should see a better chance come his way.

Well handicapped is a comment that almost certainly applies to Jaamid. Noel Meade’s handicap hurdler followed up a maiden hurdle success and advertised himself as being a much most settled individual this season. Quite what value he offers as a betting prospect next time out is hard to estimate but he should continue to reward his followers if well placed. This was a decent little race and a few winners should come from those in behind, especially those potentially unexposed horses filling the placings, Magnet For Money and Mister Farmer.

Noel Meade initiated a quick double with Cavallo Classico taking the next. He has had a fair few runs this season already, and has been running very consistently to be fair. He reversed placings with favourite Dosco, who he had lost to last time out, although I would not get carried away with the result in terms of the winner, he does give me the impression that he takes a few runs to get ready.
