9th November - Thurles (AW)

9th November – Thurles

Going; Good to Yielding (Times support this)

There have been a great number of really decent novice and beginners’ chases recently, as you would expect for the time of year, and Letterman’s performance in the opener added to the recent tally of exciting prospect performances. Trainer Edward O’Grady will put him into a winners race and stepping up in class will also be on the card later on I’d imagine. Favourite Stoneville, who had been described as a chaser all the way by trainer Eric McNamara, suffered a fall and was sadly destroyed. Back To Bid should come on for the run and should pick up a similar race soon.

Public Reaction added to his and trainer Edward Hales’ tally at the track. Making all he put in a nice performance that had the remaining runners toiling. This was a good show and if kept to the sharper tracks then further success would be on the cards. In behind Slim Pickings appears to have gone slightly wayward this season.

Marfinca landed the second beginners chase of the day, but the performance was nothing special and the race looks best avoided in future.

Templers Hall took a poor handicap chase in reasonable fashion. The performance was nothing to get carried away with but it did give a boost to the form of Walk Over, who I have been following closely.

With the defection of Shuil Aris, Female was given an opportunity to land the mares maiden, which she did in good fashion. This was a fair performance and the second and third, Omas Glen and Tyone Legend, may find winning chances.

Strand Line took his first handicap hurdle with a fair performance for Philip Rothwell beating a decent yardstick in Maricko Bay. I’d imagine that they could get another victory out of the winner whilst Maricko Bay is unlucky to be running out of opportunities.
