12th November - Limerick Review (AW)

12th November – Limerick

Going; Soft (Times agree)

A good looking maiden hurdle opened the card with Streetshavenoname taking the honours for Tom Taffe. Joint favourite and similarly profiled bumper performer Freds Benefit could only manage third, whilst second Alabama Banjo advertised his well-being. This is a solid little race and will produce winners and good results.

Pearly Jack, a personal favourite of mine, reverted to hurdles ahead of a forecast engagement in the Becher Chase. His trainer had mentioned how tricky he is to keep fit and he had been held up after winning last time out over fences, so this was a nice performance that saw him avoiding any extra weight over fences in the future. I did enquire into him being a Grand National horse this year with attheraces David Duggan, but he suggested that it was not on the cards for this season as far as he knew. I don’t know whether to hold out on my optimism on this however.

Edward O’Grady is in good form and Ride The Storm defied a long absence to score under Shay Barry. Chevaux Loco has been consistent of late and may be more suited by two and a half miles. This was a fairly exposed field however.

Pearl’s A Singer advertised an earlier winner in the campaign for me that I will leave you to uncover for yourself. This was a very average handicap hurdle and not a great deal of strength to be taking on in terms of form for the future.

Mick Finan took the maiden hurdle encouraging me to think that my view on the victory of Irish Nation at Wexford could be right. Holly Tree continues to frustrate but is highly consistent.

Glengali gave Eric McNamara another winner on the day, in what was a fair handicap. The performance was fairly sound but the opposition was nothing outstanding. Johnny Gonzalez is running consistently affirming the view on the performance of the winner, whilst he possibly finds himself picking up weight for running without success.
