Down Royal 4th November (DK)

For all the class that is on offer in the UK, you cannot take yourself away from a cracking card at Down Royal.

Seemingly two match bet races today, War Of Attrition v Beef Or Salmon and In Compliance v Wild Passion, and these will no doubt have a big effect on Ante Post markets.

War Of Attrition jumped as well as he ever has last time out, and even against Beef Or Salmon in Ireland he's very hard to oppose. Ground is likely to be a further plus for him considering he is best seen on better ground and Conor O'Dwyer was more impressed than anyone.

"That was exactly what we wanted. He jumped super, travelled well and picked up when I asked him. It was a good test for his first run back as they went a good gallop. He is definitely a stronger horse this season. I knew that after riding him a couple of times in the past few weeks, and he felt really good today."

Beef Or Salmon had the beating of the two when they met at Leopardstown in the Lexus, but since then War Of Attrition has held the upper hand. He is able to make all or sit off a good gallop, and for people wishing to back him, his running style is a plus, as is his jumping. But for backers of Beef Or Salmon they can look on his hurdles run very positively, as Patsy hall has since won a hot Novice Chase since.

The Grade 3 chase sees In Compliance come up against the Arkle 4th in Wild Passion.

Wild Passion has questions to answer about his stamina, yet this trip will not test it and coming back from a nice pipe opener over the hurdles, he will no doubt be fitter of the two. Chucked in at the deep end following his debut chase win, he showed a liking for easy ground, and also had the look about him of wanting this sort of trip, whether he can stay the Gold Cup trip, I don't know, but this trip will suit him as will the ground, and if winning this think the Ryanair Chase should be an option Noel Meade thinks about prior to trying Gold Cup trip next year.

With In Compliance trainer Michael O'Brien stating he'll more than likely to need the run, think that this could be a watching race. Last season, following a late introduction to fences, I feel he was a bit over raced in the latter part of the season, and did not show his best form. This year I do expect better things, and this being the 1st leg of a long journey to the Gold Cup in March. Seemingly his immediate aim is the Paddy Power Gold Cup, so I don't expect him to be given a hard race, so this is a plus for Wild Passion backers.

Not forgetting the remainder of the card, I do feel that Moores Law is a seriously well handicapped horse, and of only a 1lb higher mark for his runaway victory last time out, 6/1 in places is worthy of a great amount of respect, and a great ew bet.
